KwikNest uses a small number of cookies and browser-storage entries (local storage and session storage) to keep you signed in, hold your cart, remember choices you make, and, only if you agree, measure how storefronts are used. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not let advertising networks track you on KwikNest or on the storefronts we host. The KwikNest website and back office use no analytics at all. Analytics only run on merchant storefronts, and only with your consent.
In the names below, [store] and [org] stand for the storefront or organisation the entry belongs to.
Strictly necessary (always on)
These are needed for the service you asked for, such as signing in or checking out, so they don't need consent. Blocking them will break sign-in, your cart, or checkout.
- Clerk sign-in cookies (
__session,__client_uat, and related__clerkcookies): keep merchants, suppliers, and team members signed in to the back office. Set by our sign-in provider, Clerk. __Host-kn_cust_[store](cookie): keeps you signed in to a storefront account. Lasts 30 days and renews while you use it. Removed when you sign out.kwiknest-cart:[store],kwiknest-cart-discount:[store], andkwiknest-cart-gift-card:[store](local storage): your cart and any discount code or gift card applied to it. Kept until you check out or clear your browser data.kwiknest-cookie-consent(local storage): remembers the choices you made in the cookie banner so we don't ask again on every page.- Order links (a secure token in the web address, not a cookie): let you open an order from an email without signing in. They expire after 90 days.
Preferences you set
These are only stored when you make a choice or use a feature, and they only remember that choice. They are not used to track you.
theme(local storage): light, dark, or system appearance, saved when you change it.kwiknest-shell-collapsed(local storage) andsidebar_state(cookie, 7 days): whether the back-office sidebar is open or collapsed.kn_wsmode_[org](cookie): which workspace mode you last used in the back office.kn:cross-mode-coach:[org](local storage): remembers that you dismissed a back-office tip.kwiknest-storefront-email(local storage): the email you entered at checkout, so the order lookup page can fill it in for you. Never used for marketing.kn_chat_visitor(cookie, 30 days): a random ID, set when you use a storefront's assistant, so your conversation continues from page to page.kn_seen(cookie, 180 days): set after you sign in with "Continue with KwikNest", so KwikNest storefronts can offer that option first next time. It holds no ID or personal information, only the value "1".
Analytics (off unless you accept)
Storefront analytics only run if you accept analytics in the cookie banner. They help the merchant understand how their store is used. When they are on, we record:
- pages and products you view, and the page address;
- adding and removing cart items, starting checkout, searches, wishlist adds, and discount codes applied;
- clicks on storefront sections and, for a sample of visits, which sections you scrolled into view.
Each event is stored with a random session ID kept in session storage (kn_analytics_session, deleted when you close the tab), your browser's user-agent, a one-way scrambled (salted hash) version of your IP address rather than the address itself, and your storefront account ID if you are signed in. The data is stored by KwikNest, shown only to that storefront's merchant, and is not sent to any third-party analytics or advertising service. It is kept while the merchant's account is open.
Separately, completed purchases, enquiries, and reviews are recorded as part of the order or the storefront itself, whatever your analytics choice.
Third parties
- Stripe (
__stripe_mid,__stripe_sid): when you reach checkout, Stripe's payment form sets these cookies to prevent fraud. They are strictly necessary for card payments. See Stripe's cookie policy. - Clerk sets the sign-in cookies listed above.
Your choices
On any storefront, use the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer to change your analytics choice at any time. You can also clear cookies and storage in your browser settings. Clearing strictly necessary entries will sign you out and empty your cart.
