Nestor is KwikNest's back-office assistant. It answers questions about your own business data in plain English, and can draft work for you.
Status: Available. Nestor is included with your account — there is nothing to buy and nothing to configure. We switch it on per account as we roll it out, so if you do not see it yet, ask us.
The rule that matters most#
Nestor drafts. You decide.
Anything that would spend money, place an order, or reach a customer stops and waits for your explicit approval. Nestor cannot:
- Send a purchase order to a supplier
- Email or message a customer
- Change a price
- Move money
It can prepare all of those and put them in front of you.
This is a deliberate product decision, not a limitation we are working around. An assistant that could quietly place orders on your behalf would be a liability, not a feature.
Nestor is an operations assistant, not a free-form chatbot. It answers using your records and uses predefined playbooks to draft work. When something would write to the system, it pauses for your approval.
What you can ask it#
Nestor reads your inventory, orders, buyers and deliveries, and answers with figures drawn from your actual records rather than a general guess.
Useful questions:
- Which products are about to run out?
- What is sitting in my order queue that needs attention?
- Which of my buyers has gone quiet?
- What is late going out for delivery?
- Which products sold best last month?
Answers cite the data they came from, so you can check them.
What it can draft for you#
Restock orders — Available#
Nestor identifies variants at or below their reorder point and drafts a purchase order to the right supplier, with sensible quantities.
You review it, change it, and approve it — or throw it away. Nothing is sent otherwise.
It can also do this automatically each morning, so drafts are waiting when you start work. They are still drafts.
Stock risk explanations — Available#
Rather than just a low-stock list, Nestor explains which products are at risk and why, based on how they have been selling.
Fulfilment suggestions — Available#
For an order, Nestor suggests whether pickup, local delivery or a carrier makes the most sense.
Anomaly alerts — Limited#
Nestor watches for things that are usually mistakes and raises a card when it finds one:
- A product priced at zero
- A discount above the cap you set
- Stock running out
- A delivery that has not moved when it should have
Detection is rule-based on your data, so alerts are consistent and explainable rather than a model's hunch. Nestor writes the explanation; the detection is deterministic.
Coverage is limited to the four categories above today. More are Planned.
Staying in control#
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Approvals | Every write action waits for you |
| Per-account policy | Set what Nestor is allowed to do in your organisation |
| Pause | Stop Nestor entirely for your organisation, at any time |
| Rollout switch | KwikNest can enable or disable Nestor per account |
| Audit log | Every action Nestor takes, and every approval you give, is recorded |
Planned#
Not built yet, and no date promised here:
- Handling incoming quote requests on your behalf
- Rebalancing stock between locations
- Assembling evidence for a dispute
- Broader anomaly coverage
Nestor is not the storefront chat#
Two different things, easy to confuse:
| Who talks to it | What it does | |
|---|---|---|
| Nestor | You and your team | Answers questions about your business, drafts work |
| Storefront chat | Your customers | Answers general questions about your store and escalates to you. Limited — it does not yet search your catalog |
Frequently asked#
Does Nestor see my data? Nestor reads your organisation's data to answer your questions. It does not read other businesses' data, and other businesses cannot ask it about yours.
Can I turn it off? Yes, at any time, for your whole organisation.
Will it act without me? No. Read-only answers are immediate. Every action that changes something waits for your approval.
What if it gets an answer wrong? Answers cite the underlying data so you can verify them. Tell us when one is wrong — that feedback is how the read tools get better.
